Galeria d’Art El Claustre opened its doors in 1983, in premises located in the basement of 9th, Carrer Nou, Girona. In this place was found part of the cloister of the old convent of St. Francis of Assisi, from the XIII century. This architectonic element has given name to our gallery, and has been declared Historic and Artistic Monument.
The second Galeria d’Art El Claustre was inaugurated in February 1991 in number 10 of the same mentioned street. This new gallery is divided into two floors for individual expositions, and a third level in the same premises where El Claustre has an extensive art collection, exclusive for our Members. In 1996, El Claustre opened a new gallery in 8th, Carrer Nou, Girona. This local serves as permanent demonstration of the art collection of Galeria d’Art El Claustre, and also as auditorium, or as conferences and auctions room. Today the group El Claustre counts with more than 1.000 m2 dedicated to the art world, and regularly organizes individual expositions of important artists, becoming, thus, one of the biggest galleries in Catalunya.
