He trained between Olot and Barcelona, absorbing the heritage of the great masters of Catalan landscape painting.
Although his foundation stems from traditional Olot landscape art, his work evolved toward a more personal and modern vision. He is noted for a freer use of color, vibrant light, and a formal execution close to Post-Impressionism.
His production revolves mainly around the landscapes of La Garrotxa, rural scenes, seascapes of the Costa Brava, and compositions in which nature and Mediterranean light play the main roles, while his paintings reflecting the bohemian atmospheres of Paris, the melancholy of Venetian cafes, and the lights of California are also important.
Vayreda Canadell exhibited regularly in the main galleries of Barcelona, Olot, and Girona, becoming a key figure in understanding the continuity and modernization of Garrotxa landscape painting in the second half of the 20th century. His work is present in various private and museum collections across Catalonia.
