JOSEP PLAJA
From June 12 to 27 2026
Josep Plaja shows us pigments with evocative names, "Montserrat blue" and "Germany green": his color palette does not align with that of the orthodox landscape painter.
It seems that Josep Plaja paints landscapes not to portray the world, but to tentatively search within it for beauty—a beauty that, in his case, is constructed through the painter's hand in the creative act.
The magic of the creative act itself, of course, escapes words and cannot be confined by discourse; yet, while many artists wish to transfer this aura of mystery to the techniques of their craft, here Josep Plaja is entirely prosaic: he holds no secrets, and there is no part of his trade—of which he possesses much—that he is unwilling to explain.
